January Free Collage Sheet

Hello! How are you? Is the new year good to you so far? I hope that you are well and smiling today!

I feel like I have been away for a long time. Right now it seems that I'm typing into a empty, silent spot.  I want to reconnect to my online life and friends. 

I can't think of a better way to reconnect and thank you for your support in 2012 than to offer another free collage sheet! I really, really hope that you will enjoy it - it is made from a painting I did for my new 2013 journal. The image and words that I will look at every day, as I write in my journal, are on this collage sheet.

I thought I would be a little bit more ambitious this year, and try to create a collage kit every month. My wish is to fill the pages with images that make me happy and that I will want use in my journals. So, I present to you the first collage kit for 2013: 

There are three pages filled with high resolution images that correspond well with the free collage sheet.  This collage kit can also be found on the "Printables" tab, but please notice that it is not free.

I spent some time cutting up the images and placed them in a box (that housed yummy sweets I received for my birthday). Now they will be ready for me to simply reach in and add to my pages.

Cyber Monday Inspiration

This is the first day in two weeks that I have as much time as I want to create, and - would you believe it - I spent the good part of the morning not knowing what to do. I pulled out a big canvas, decided I don't have the energy for it, then I cut up some ATC sized cards and opened my watercolors... but it didn't really feel right, so I opened my collage drawer and smiled at the the images that I saw in.

Playing with collage sheets in journals is easy and fun. I looked at all the faces and they seemed to be waiting to be placed on colorful backgrounds.

Birds brighten any page and always make me happy, so I knew it will be fun to use them.

I thought that someone else might be inspired to play with collage sheets, so I'm joining Cyber Monday and putting them on SALE.

for Bird Lovers

For me, this is the best way to relax. I created this kit in a way that everything looks good together, no matter how combined, so there is no pressure - just fun. I cut out all 77 collage bits and then combined them. Maybe there are 78 pieces... I keep getting a different number when I count them :-)

Here is a journal spread, with many places left for writing.

I've been using junk mail for bookmarks... I think these are prettier than that.

I can never tire of ACEOs. It was my first art love, and I still love their small format.

So, that's it. My first bird lovers collage kit. It's in my etsy shop, with some other new collage sheets that I recently added.

I'm about to sit in the car with my daughter - a very new driver. I'll try to be a good and patient teacher.... and then I'll probably relax with more birds, because even after making all these things, I still have plenty collage material left.

It happened slowly...

It happened slowly... I wanted to see how elements of my paintings would work as repeated designs.

So I played with Illustrator and Photoshop and created papers with exactly the colors

and shapes I wanted.

And then I cut them apart and put together again... FUN!

I made many more things from them. As soon as I finish the little video I made,

I'll have a little show and tell :-)
