ATC technique and a giveaway

I stumbled yesterday onto THIS site and found a link to a tutorial for Intuitive Watercolor Wash Faces. It seemed like a lot of fun, and I could hardly wait to try it.
The basic idea is to quickly add washes of color to watercolor paper, somewhat face shaped but very loose and free. You can see what my "faces" looked like after that first stage.
Then I spent some time playing with black and white inks and got this result.
This was really fun! More and more I love the feeling I get when creating without expectations.
I am going to sign up for the ATC swap at Art Colony, and three of my ATCs will go there.
Since I made more than three, I thought I might offer the forth one to one of you.
If you would like to win one of these four ATC cards, leave a comment with the card number you like the most and I will randomly pick a number on Monday morning.

for Bird Lovers

For me, this is the best way to relax. I created this kit in a way that everything looks good together, no matter how combined, so there is no pressure - just fun. I cut out all 77 collage bits and then combined them. Maybe there are 78 pieces... I keep getting a different number when I count them :-)
Here is a journal spread, with many places left for writing.
I've been using junk mail for bookmarks... I think these are prettier than that.
I can never tire of ACEOs. It was my first art love, and I still love their small format.
So, that's it. My first bird lovers collage kit. It's in my etsy shop, with some other new collage sheets that I recently added.
I'm about to sit in the car with my daughter - a very new driver. I'll try to be a good and patient teacher.... and then I'll probably relax with more birds, because even after making all these things, I still have plenty collage material left.
Happy weekend!

It happened slowly...

It happened slowly... I wanted to see how elements of my paintings would work as repeated designs.
ACEO ATC Bird Lovers Card
So I played with Illustrator and Photoshop and created papers with exactly the colors
and shapes I wanted.

And then I cut them apart and put together again... FUN!

I made many more things from them. As soon as I finish the little video I made,
I'll have a little show and tell :-)
Happy weekend!

New collage sheet

collage sheet angels
This is the first collage sheet I put together after almost two years. I decided on a size I never used before - 1"x2", which is good for domino art. Then I challenged myself to see what I can create using just this one collage sheet (and supplies from my studio).
First I made a journal page. It was fun to create long, lean figures and combine words from a book over them. I made sure there is enough space for actual journaling.

Next was a tiny domino journal. I was surprised to see how fast and easy it is to use the coptic stitch on this small format. It was quicker than it took the encaustic medium, that I brushed on covers, to melt.

I showed the ATC cards and little inchies already.
This was really a fun project. If you like it, and want to play along - this collage sheet, along with 22 others can be found in my recently re-opened etsy shop.
Happy creating!

ACEOs / ATCs

I had more things to show today, but time somehow ran out, so I'll post these two little ATC cards. It feels good to play with small formats. I haven't done that in  a while. Another small thing (tiny journal) coming for the 'show&tell' tomorrow.
