Gray day - colorful art

It is a very gray, rainy day and my poor foot hurts so bad that I needed some color therapy. This is what I came up with - 4 ACEOs.... two with weird sayings. I have been thinking about the Inspire me Thursday challenge - self-portrait... but I have no idea where to start, or what to do. I guess that's why it is called a challenge...

Illustration Friday - Tea

This is a little key holder thing I got in IKEA. I decided to turn it into a tea cabinet so I painted the tea cups, added tea bags and a tea infuser inside.... happy drinking.

I love tea, but with my coffee habit, wine in the evening and all the water during the day there is not enough time for it. I will drink more tea.... that's my new resolution.....

Hana on TV (KTVU)

Hana was enjoying an afternoon walk on the beach with her grandfather when she was interviewed about predators for the Ten O'Clock News on KTVU. She was very serious, smart and may I add - cute.
The story is scary... but it feels like the police really want to nail the guy before he has a chance to harm anyone. Posters with the sketch of the suspect are posted everywhere.

"Alameda police said today that they now believe a man may have tried to lure a total of four youths into his car in three separate incidents Tuesday afternoon.

Lt. David Boersma said police learned today that a man tried to lure two high school-age girls into his car near a Burger King at the intersection of Otis Drive and South Shore Center Way in the vicinity of the Alameda Town Centre shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Boersma said that's the same area where a man asked a 13-year-old boy in front of an Albertson's supermarket at 2300 South Shore Center Way to get into his car at about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Another incident occurred later Tuesday afternoon in front of a Longs Drugs store at 885 Island Drive when a man tried to get an 11-year-old girl into his car by mouthing something at her and holding out candy."

I don't agree with this saying.... I don't think our wishes should have boundaries. Still, sometimes it makes the day go easier if you "wish for what you can do".

Art Squared Theme Week - Green

The theme was green. I wanted to play with the color green and different shades and textures..... but I didn't. I need words to inspire me, and I connected with this saying... so my canvas is not green but I think I stayed with the subject. Here is my entry:

A romantic anniversary

My father traveled over 6000 miles yesterday to surprise my mother for their anniversary. He showed up with 43 roses... one for every year and "his heart" (a heart shaped piece of jewelry). How very romantic!

I can paint roses but I can't draw anything well... I would love to have an art teacher to show me what to do, but on the other hand I don't think that I could sit in a class and show my scribbles. Blog is another thing - I'm much braver here. Why is that, I wonder?

I'm sorry if you feel cheated that you clicked on a link that took you to an illustration by a 3 year old, but I just had to post this picture. That is the first association I had when I read the theme for this week and it just didn't leave me. I even tried to reproduce it with watercolors - but it didn't look the same.

Simple.... very simple and beautiful.

I received the ZNE Zine today! What a treat! Such a lovely zine, beautiful artwork and lots of fun things inside. My art squared included!!! Wrong name under it..... but who's complaining. I was just happy to be a part of it.
