About Me

Welcome! My name is Zorana. I usually use only my first name, because my last name is long and difficult to say (although I love hearing the different pronunciations). It is Stanojkovic - in case  you wish to try.

I have no trouble calling myself an artist, but it wasn't always like that. It took me nearly 40 years to realize that regular people (like me) could be artists. Before that, I thought that they were born with special talents, trained in fancy schools and that they live lives somehow different from mine.  No wonder because I knew about artists only from Art history books. Luckily, Internet has made the world smaller and closer. Once I realized that many people create, and that I can too – my life changed forever. Creating is now something that I need to do to feel content.

More things about "me me me and me":
  • I’m a mother to two amazing children,  and wife to the best and smartest man on the planet.
  • We have a cat with “regal” personality, as some of our friends like to say, but wish to add a dog to the family in the future.
  • I write with my right hand, but draw and paint with my left. Sometimes it's fun to change hands and paint with the non-dominant (you can see how I did it here).
  • I always read three books at the same time. I listen to one in my car, so no matter how far I need to drive – the time goes fast. The second book is active on my computer, in my studio – waiting to keep my mind occupied while I paint. The third book is on my kindle, where it waits for me to snuggle with it before sleep.
  • If I’m not smiling – people think I’m tired or sad.
  • I am a wannabe vegan, but not quite there yet. Daily green smoothies and juices make me feel alive. I grow my own sprouts (easiest thing in the world) and make nut mylks.
  • I learned the hard way that most plants like to be watered regularly. Kale is the exception – it grows whether I water it or not.
  • I can’t run (lose my breath easily), but I can ride bike or walk for miles.
  • Being in nature makes me happy.

  • I tried to follow common advice to focus on one medium, or one style of painting but decided that I couldn’t. I love using all mediums – pencil, acrylics, pastels, oil paints, watercolors… and often I mix them up in one painting. My enthusiasm is equal whether I create tiny art (1 inch square) or big abstracts.
  • It has been a joy to see my art published on glossy pages of Artful Blogging, Art Dolls, Cloth, Paper Scissors, True Vision (book by L.K. Ludwig)

I can’t imagine how I lived so many years without holding a pencil or paintbrush in my hand. Now I believe that everyone can be creative if they want to. I love sharing my art in hopes that it will encourage someone to do it too.  I hope that you can find inspiration in my YouTube videos, tutorials, collage kits, workshop and daily stories on my blog.

Keep an eye at the tabs on top of my page! Soon I will post free collage elements for anyone to play with!

Thank you for visiting!

  1. I just discovred you through a link on Balzer's blog, and I nearly didn't read her today! But I love your work and your thinking, and I think you must be some sort of a younger clone of me... except I got started much, much later and I am thrilled that you have found your talent at a young age. I think your art is wonderful and I quite identify.
