I'm back

I can't believe that it has been almost a month since I did anything art related! I was pretty much unplugged most of the time, traveling and enjoying real-life connections with people and nature. I can't believe that I am smiling or laughing in every photo! That doesn't come to me naturally, so I'm sure it's a sign that I relaxed and enjoyed everything.
Can you believe that tomorrow is the last day of May?
This year is moving fast...
Hope to be back with some art soon (if I didn't forget how to create).

101 BIRDS - Painting #16

Who says that I'm not obsessed with birds anymore? I am! And I am trying very hard not to put something on the head of this one. I think he wants it....

New obsession?

I took the Pear-ology class with Martha Lever, and now I can't stop painting pears...
It is so .. much .. fun!!!
I think I am falling in love with watercolors.
They are somehow clean (for the lack of a better word). The opposite of messy acrylics. And you know how much I love the messiness of acrylics. I guess I like it all.
Hana patiently watched as my pear collection grew, but when she saw this last one, she couldn't resist to comment: "What, you have a new obsession? Not birds anymore? Pears?"
I guess so. They landed in my journal too. What can I say - I guess I am obsessed.

Through the magic of modern technology this post will go up while my plane starts soaring.... and several more will show up in the following days.
I moved things around the blog - closed my etsy shops, and added instagram! I never really "got" facebook, and although I have an account I rarely use it, but instagram seems like a really pretty place and I am enjoying it right now. I will try to post some photos while I'm away, but I'm warning you - I am total newbie there, just learning my first steps.

Sorry for the lack of e-mail communication. I really appreciate every comment, even when I can't write back.
Have a happy weekend!

Angel giveaway winner

Thank you all for participating in my giveaway and for the lovely words about my art. Reading it made me smile all day. Mr. Random.Org chose the winner, and judging by the words in the comment, the angel is going to the right place. I sent Judy an email, and hopefully she will reply soon with her contact information.

Thank you once again :-)

Scribble, scrabble...

It is interesting how things happen in our journals if we allow them to.
I was watching the water sprinkler's hypnotizing back & forth movement and was suddenly transported into early childhood. So much that I wanted to draw (paint) like I child. It was probably triggered by my upcoming trip. I am getting ready for a long trip across the ocean to visit my parents and I'm thinking about them a lot...
I held the pencil way up high, like a three year old, with my hand formed in a fist around it and started my silly drawing. (Sorry Mark that I turned your adorable visitor into this creature... I really had to paint him and I was in my three-year old mode, so I couldn't do a better job.)
Then I started writing about things that I remember from my childhood, which turned into writing about dear (mostly gone) people, then more happy things and at the end my mindless writing came back to the present time and I had a real "aha!" moment. Some things connected without me even trying to think about them. So interesting! I sat there looking at my drawings and words and wondered where did that thought come from. What an unexpected bonus from journaling! Try it... allow yourself to just "do" (paint, draw, write) and you might be surprised too.
P.S. I forgot to say that international entries for my giveaway are welcome! I will pick someone on Thursday :-)
