Tired

This was my try at a self-portrait. Of course she looks prettier and younger than I do, I just can't paint more mature faces. Maybe I'll learn one day.
I guess I win the award for the most boring blog in cyber-space. I have a really good excuse... I have been working 10-12 hour days for the last month... including weekends. Not one single free day. Wake up at 5 a.m. and try to function to midnight... I work in the digital department of a print house, and we are printing ballots for the upcoming election. I guess the election would not happen if I stopped working for half a day... (yeah, right). It is exhausting and it will last 2-3 more weeks.
I feel bad for not replying to comments and emails. I even have some new readers (HI!) that I'm completely neglecting. But I just don't have a choice at this moment. It is eating my every moment... even the little time I spend at home (awake) I am not able to decompress. I did steal half an hour last night in my (still unpacked) studio to make this journal entry.
I am dreaming color and journals and canvases and other fun stuff, but will have to wait before it can become more than a dream.
Untill then - thank you for the good thoughts, emails and comments. I promise that I'll be back to blog reading and writing when I reconect to my regular life.
Much love,
Z.

  1. I just happened to catch you when you were posting. How odd. Anyways, I know that feeling, that creative endeavors are always on the back burner until life is caught up. Story of my life. I am certain you'll be more successful than I am most of the time in overcoming that road block. Keep up the good work. At least the election isn't too far away now. I'm sure I'm not the only person thinking good thoughts for you.

  2. Zorana.... life just gets busy sometimes and we have to prioritize (not always what we want to do...but a neccessity).

You are having HUGE days, no wonder you are tired. Dont feel guilty for not blogging, we will still all be here when time allows you to get back into your journals and paintings. We all know how busy life can get.

Thanks for the self portrait and take care of yourself.

And just think about what a wonderful creative explosion you'll have when things slow down!

  4. I just left a comment on Jenny Doh's blog..she asked what do you do when the going gets tough? My answer is that I always think how good I will feel once I am finished with the "tough". YOu'll feel great once this is over and the art will spill out!

  5. Love what Bluejude said,"...think about what a wonderful creative explosion you'll have..." That's what I'm thanking about for you because I know when life's hours get back to normal, you will be busy unboxing all you stuff and getting it all organized in your new space and you will want to show us and you will want to paint new things. But you need to be making an "inspiration list" of the things you want to paint so when the time comes, you can just look at the list. I know when you are going from before daylight to midnight, you are inspired but there is no way you can remember the inspiration ...so write it down. And I love your young beautiful tired self.

  6. Thanks for checking in,Z. I thought maybe you were unpacking all this time. I agree with Sharon and I need to follow her advice too and make that list. I will get some great ideas and then get busy and by the time I have some time I have forgotten what the great ideas were...hey but I'm old.

  7. Good to have a blog post from you! I'm sorry for the work situation that you find yourself in. I'm not working nearly that hard, and still have a hard time finding time for me. Take care of yourself -- and remember that we'll be here when you have a chance to get back to us.

  9. I used to do payroll and AP for a large printing company in Hayward...during election time ballot printing made us ALL nuts, tired and over worked. I SO get where you are with work right now. BUT soon it will be over and you will have blissful time in your studio. I await the splendor that will arise from that time.
In the mean time.....we are here and we miss you and send you moments of rest!
    XOXOXO

  11. Hi sweetie

Thanks for your recent email and for this post. Please don't every feel obligated to post on your blog. Your blog is NEVER boring.

Life can get busy and you must be feeling so tired. I hope you are sleeping well at night.

Such long days for you and no days off! That is awful. No wonder you are feeling tired and have no time for art. You don't have any time for yourself at all right now.

Am very glad that the end is in sight and you will have time to get back to a normal life after the election.

And I am very pleased you are dreaming about art. Your sub concious mind is obviously thinking about it all the time. And when you have time again I am sure you will create many beautiful things!

Take good care, look after yourself and know we will be waiting for you with open arms when you return.

    Much love

    Dot xx
