This and that...

I have been searching for the perfect time to write a blog post, and in that searching and waiting days have passed, things have happened and if I don't post something now (even if it's not the perfect time) I don't when I will. So this is what I've been up to:
I planted a herb garden. And some other things. I LOVE working in the garden. I scream and jump every time I see a worm... but it doesn't matter. Soon I will have a real garden where kale will grow all winter long for my green smoothies. My dh is going to build me a pretty square foot garden so I can play as much as I want.
I visited a hair salon, so I finally look presentable. Honestly, my hair was so bad... I looked like a scary witch.
I received a complimentary copy of this book:
because one of my journal pages is published in it. For some reason they chose one of my most depressing, sad, weird pages... It's funny looking at my face in a book. I didn't have the chance to read the whole thing, but it looks like eye candy for journal lovers.
I was inspired (as always) by Sharon and Jesse Reno, so I started a huge canvas with tons of color as background. I mounted it on the wall of my studio. My hope is that I will play often on that canvas, using any left-over color, drawing and doodling and writing and experimenting... I hope that it will change and get layers and layers and that this first one will not even show. It was fun to paint with my hands (and hard to clean them) on such a big surface.
Speaking of my studio.... I have new, pretty green boxes on my shelves... They are still waiting for me to organize a ton of "stuff". I unpacked some things (books - they are easy), but so much is still in boxes in the garage...
I painted a little, collaged and sketched too.... but not enough. I'll show more when I have something finished.
The boy didn't get chosen for the team.... He said he gave a 100%... and as much as he is disappointed, he said that when one page is finished, there is always something new waiting on the next page. So he is cooling off and enjoying the weather in Santa Cruz. Thank you for all good wishes.
So, that's about it..... What I have not written about is that I'm very busy at work and that the next month is going to be pretty crazy. It's good to be busy and it's also good to laugh and be silly. And I've been doing that too.
WOW! This was long..... If you made it this far, I'm sending you big cyber hugs. xo

  1. Thank you for the big cyber hug!! I read the entire thing and loved every bit of it....the garden, the hair color, I just bought that book, and the huge canvas!! The boxes are so pretty all lined up on the shelves. I miss seeing your artwork but I'll be patient because I know you're very busy.

  3. Oh my goodness, such goodness in this post. I loved getting caught up with you and seeing everything. And ya'll jumping over the moon is just too much. But best of all was my laughing out loud with the visual of you creaming and jumping every time you see a worm. If it is earth worms, they are your best garden friends. (((((hugging back))))

  5. What a lovely garden (thanks for the shots). We have just come through winter, so my garden is looking very "scruffy"....I may get out and play in it this weekend.
You are so right that when one door closes another opens. Your "boy" gave his best...100%, you cant do better and we are so proud of them for giving it their all!
Have fun in your garden and with your lovely family.

  8. Do you know I can actually feel a general lightness of being from you since you moved?
And now you are gardening (I would love to grow some herbs) and as always your art is amazing (and wow, in a book no less) and you're doing something just for you (love the hair color).........it's all wonderful! (I had to laugh about the worms...I don't do well with bugs OR worms)
I hope you'll show the whole studio one day. You know I still move things around in mine..it's never ending. (probably due to adding more supplies - eeeek!)
It's essential to laugh and be silly, I really believe it feeds the soul.
Now you have me wanting to finger paint - :)
    XOXOXOX
    Love and hugs,
    Lisa

  10. Hi Zorana

Thought I would pop in and say hi. Lovely to catch up on all of your news.

I can ' hear' your contentment in your words too. Am so pleased you are settling in well to your new home!

It sounds like your boy gave 100% and has a great attitude towards this too.

Very glad you had a pamper day at the hairdressers. And that you have been having fun being silly too (which is always good for the soul).

    Miss you

    Dot xx

  11. HI Zorana...I just love this post. What a really cool slice of your life! Your bravery on that large canvas inspires me! I have to tell you I was at a really cool art store with the youngest son last week and was strolling through the summer issue of Artful Blogging when I saw your feature! I squealed! My son said "Don't you know her Mom?" I am so happy for you! Your work deserves such an honor! Joyful congrats!PS I am having a gratitude give away on my blog if you'd like to stop by!
    Blessings

  15. Hi Dear Zorana ~ I've been thinking about you, and your new "nest", the bird who is using his wings, and, his strong mom who keeps telling him he can fly strong! Just wanted you to know you are in my thoughts. My youngest bird moved her "You May Be What You Please", closer to the wall right next to her bed. She continues to love it, as do I. I think of you each time I see it. How special it is to have your artistic reminder helping me to help the one I love so deeply. Hope you can feel the hug attached to this message! ~ Laurie
