Too colorful? You should see how it started.
Actually - you WILL see it if you look at the following photo:
Actually - you WILL see it if you look at the following photo:
Before this it was a bright red canvas with white flowers.... catastrophe... I was trying something and it didn't work out. Someone would say that this didn't work out either, but it made me happy to create it and it makes me happy to look at it.
I was very much inspired by the process that I think Flora Bowley uses... and I'm extra happy to say that, in a couple of weeks, I will have an opportunity to watch her paint for two full days!!! I can't wait to see what kind of cools things I'll learn and incorporate in my art.

This is so beautiful!! and you know when I looked at the first photo, I thought it reminded me of Flora Bowley's art--which I absolutely love. This painting of yours is just fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteWow....so expressive! Just beautiful! I imagine painting with Flora will be so much fun! Loved the quote on her website by Anais Nin about "the risk to remain tight". I can relate!!!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. Love the colors. Lots to look at.
ReplyDeleteNot too much color for me. I'll bet I could stand in front of this for ages just looking at all the details.

It's gorgeous! The more colour the better as far as I'm concerned and you've done an amazing job of this. I'm off to check out Flora Bowley's work now. I haven't heard of her but if it's anything like yours I shall be in for a treat!xx
ReplyDeleteLove this painting. I can easily imagine having it at my home and watching it over and over again. You really know how to combine colors and motifs to make it work.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course it's nice to see you too. Happy
I so envy you for Flora's event It's great how world become smaller with online classes but it must have been great to watch someone painting live. Especially someone you admire.
Enjoy it
Wow. Such color and such freedom in your style. Beautiful. I am working on trying to incorporate more freedom and flow in my art. It's a process...
ReplyDeleteI love this painting, I love color. AND I also adore Flora Bowley and I am truly sad I missed out on the Berkeley Workshop. She is probably the one artist I would really like to take a class from. I can't wait to see what you do.
ReplyDeleteLove this painting, colorful, busy. My daughter is in art school and some of your work reminds me of her...thats a good thing
ReplyDeleteYes, the color and movement of this piece makes me smile, a lot! And there is something very spiritual about this work too. I don't think it is busy at all, I think there is a story here and a lot of continuity. BTW in may I am making time for Jane
