This feels good

This is what feels good right now.
Thinking about stuff, but not thinking about what my hands are doing.
Today I didn't want pretty art, I just wanted to hold a brush and move some colors.
Opening paint bottles felt like too much, so I used crayons and white acrylic and attacked my little journal. I used just one, very tired looking brush. Simple.
"Art is not about thinking something up. It is the opposite — getting something down" - Julia Cameron.
That's exactly what I was doing today.
Do you make messy, not-meant-to-be-pretty art? Does that relax you or makes you feel anxious?

  1. Well Z, I have gripping, staring, checking, anxiety and so much thinking. So I just do what ever and paint and alter. I wonder if it is a virus. (>}
    Maybe take more of your advice and be a bit unstructured. Yours look like a great reliever.

  2. No matter what kind of art you make, it's always beautiful to me. I love the last one with all the white and the rosy pink cheek. Gorgeous!

  3. Wonderful Faces! Love just gettin' it on paper or canvas! Shoves the brain outta the way and slaps it on...great way to work!

  4. I love the looseness of this work. One creative way I use to relax is to paint quotes on t-shirts. Big messy words and slashes. Everything else I do is pretty controlled. And by typing this I can see the importance of doing both things!

  6. Can't say I have done this but I really love what you have come up with. I really like the idea of crayons & one brush ;0) may have to have a go at this but it does make me apprehensive what if I can't think of any thing (this is my block at the moment)
