No inspiration

You really don't need to be inspired to paint. I know that it sounds weird.... but it's true. I didn't get a chance to paint over the weekend until last night. And then I was in my studio itching to make something, but I didn't have energy for the usual mishmash of mixed media and I didn't know what to paint. So I just sat there with my moleskin, crayons, gesso and ink and layered color after color after color for the background. So relaxing! At the end I just sketched a face and decided to write what I was feeling. I left the room without finishing a masterpiece (like that will ever happen), but very happy and with a clear mind. Ms. inspiration will hopefully visit some other time :-)

  2. Awesome!! I love how you did the red in her hair, fabulous work!!

I agree, that sometimes it's good to just let if flow, with no pre thought ideas, some of my better work has been done like that :)

  3. Hi there, love all those tones in her face, she's lovely. I know how you feel about inspiration I'm feeling a bit the same right now and I think it's because I'm distracted with christmas etc. I also think i put too much pressure on myself to create a 'masterpiece' all the time. I need to learn to relax and enjoy the process just like you did :0)

  4. I think if you truly enjoy the process, then the product takes care of itself! I find it amazing how something that we think was awful one day, changes into something special the next! Thanks for the inspiration. :) xx

  8. I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I'll go into my art room to put something away, and I'm still in there for 2 hours--a little disruptive, but I don't mind ;)

  9. When I come to visit I always stop and look at your header and think about who I like best on that day.
It changes and sometimes I see a face and of course it reminds me of someone I see in town that I don't really know.

I liie the work on this painting that was work done later or in the later stage of the painting, so creative, and a good reminder of how to add color with fine lines that become wonderful detail.

I am feeling a little off, I just tore up a painting, which I hardly ever do, but I have to go do exercises so I can walk again before I attempt another so I don't feel that horrid feeling if failing. I didn't rally fail I just had a rather poor idea when I started and couldn't bring it around, that is a failing tho no matter the denial.
