King/Queen of the house

Thank you for the comments and for saying that my previous painted lady is my prettiest. I don't think that you'll say the same thing for this one. The pretty one was painted carefully and slowly, with light transparent layers of paint. After that I needed something opposite - more paint, less thinking, less planing. I knew I wanted to paint a cat. Maybe it is because Janet's Lulu was recently sick (and doing well now - YAY!), or because I'm thinking often about Dot and her lovely cats, or because our cat Bart is even more cuddly than usual .
Meet Bart:
I wanted to paint a cat, but had no idea what else. I tried sketching and didn't like anything, so I decided to start with the cat and see from there. I thought you might enjoy seeing the process:
Painting this left me feeling very happy. Truth to be said - this whole week has made me feel happy. I painted more and filmed some of it. I'll be sharing soon.
I'm off to have my pre-sleep cup of tea...
Have a happy weekend!

I've been looking for you all week. Well I knew you would let me know if you were coming but that didn't stop me from wishing even though I had week for #e!!.

  8. Miss Zorana,
I love to see your process...how it all comes about is always amazing to me. Your kitty with the crown is so delightful, I love him & your wonderful red-haired girl makes me smile! My grandma Twilla & my sister both have red hair, so it's very nostalgic & joyful to me. I'm also soooo glad this picture made you happy, it comes through in the overall feeling...just LOVE it Friend!!!
    Smiles from me to you,
    Susie

  11. When the post came up I was scrolling down to get the whole picture and came to the crown - I thought Bird. Then I saw Cat. Now all I can think of is "The Cat That Swallowed the Canary", HAHAHA.

    Love it!

  14. I am so glad to have found your blog! Your work is great! Out here in Western MA, we have a woman named Donna Estabrook. Her paintings resemble yours. Lots of crowns, angels, birds, believe and hope there. You might want to look at her work and get to know her. I will return to your blog often, hope and belief is always a good reminder.
