Paradise -
I see flowers
from the cottage where I lie.
~Yaitsu's death poem, 1807
I was listening to the voice of Eva Cassidy while drawing this. I never heard of her before yesterday. My husband stumbled upon her video while searching for something on YouTube. He was immediately captured by her voice and couldn't wait to share it with me. I prefer male voices to female... so I wasn't expecting a lot. I was up for a surprise. Her voice is strong, warm, pure... It brings emotions and tears to your (my) eyes. I can't stop listening to her. Eva sings with the angels now, as she left this planet way too early (33 y. old).I see flowers
from the cottage where I lie.

I don't know who she was and the voice seems familiar and oh so wonderful. I could listen to that one song over and over.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like your new lady.
So pretty... I can see why you would want to listen to her. Her voice is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour creation is lovely!
This is a wonderful work of art Zorana. Bright in color , yet filled with poignancy.
ReplyDeleteI discovered Eva Cassidy a few years ago, and like you find her voice stirs emotions in me. Such a talented and beautiful soul, and so sad she died so young.
Gorgeous painting Zorana, I love the thoughtful look she has. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece of art!! Love the quote on her shoulder and all the music notes. It evokes a wide range of feelings and the music is just perfect. She has a lovely voice.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I heard her voice everything stopped and I got goosebumps! I can feel something of that in your beautiful artwork.
ReplyDeleteI also like the poem you quoted above the picture.
You work touches my heart, and I love the way that song reaches into a person. Nita
